VST telescope assembly
The 2.4m diameter VLT Survey Telescope (VST) has been integrated in its dome on the Paranal platform in 2007. The VST will be equipped with a giant CCD camera to take very wide-field images in the visible light. It will be used to survey broad regions of the sky and catalog the celestial objects. On this image from end-2007, the engineers are assembling the telescope on Paranal.
