High and dry at ALMA

High on the Chajnantor plateau, 5000 metres altitude in northern Chile lies the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). The largest astronomical project in existence (to date) has recently been inaugurated and "heralds a new era of discovery".
