The New Technology Telescope (NTT) is a 3.6-metre optical telescope located at La Silla Observatory in Chile. The NTT has a very thin primary mirror supported with active optics which keep the mirror in the correct shape. It was commissioned in 1989, but it was considerably upgraded in 1996 and 1997, during the so-called NTT "Big-Bang".
