ESO dostane darem planetárium a návštěvnické centrum, které vyroste v areálu ředitelství ESO v Garchingu u Mnichova (Německo). Nové zařízení bude velkolepou výkladní skříní astronomie určenou široké veřejnosti. Projekt se stane skutečností díky nadaci Klause Tschira, která nabídla uhrazení veškerých stavebních nákladů.
