Nový snímek pořízený na observatoři ESO/La Silla v Chile zachycuje jasnou hvězdokupu M 7. Od rovníku a z jižní polokoule je možné tento objekt pohodlně pozorovat i pouhým okem ‚na konci ocasu nebeského Štíra‘. Jedná se o jednu z nejnápadnějších otevřených hvězdokup na obloze. Díky tomu patří také k velmi často zkoumaným astronomickým objektům.
