Installation of the M1 cell and mirror
VLT assembly work at the ESO Paranal Observatory. View of the 8.2-m concrete mirror in the M1 cell, now attached to the telescope. The lateral mirror supports are well visible along the periphery. (Photo obtained on March 9, 1998).
