Public Survey Progress

The progress of the VISTA public surveys and VST public surveys is shown in the following cumulative plots. The cumulative trends show the progress up to April 01, 2022.  The percentage of completion shows the successfully completed observing hours with respect to the time requested for survey completion in the survey management plans plus additional time allocations following the Public Survey Panel review meetings in April 2014 and January 2016, as well as extra time allocations approved after 2016.

Expected hours of observations for the Cycla 1 VISTA surveys in the period October 2016 to April 2018

Expected hours of observations for the Cycle 1 VISTA surveys in the period October 2016 to April 2018

The above graphic shows the histogram of the expected hours of observations for the Cycle 1 VISTA surveys in the period October 2016 to April 2018. The areas are colour coded according to the Cycle 1 survey acronyms. The full line indicates the typical completed hours per month based on VISTA operations over the previous 4.5 years. The available time between the colour coded areas and the black line was assigned to the new projects selected during the second VISTA call. Some Cycle 2 surveys began observations before April 2017, to exploit time freed up over certain RA ranges by the completion of some Cycle 1 surveys.
