The Young Star Cluster Pismis 24 in ARA: a Laboratory of Star Formation and Massive Stars Evolution

Thesis Supervisor: Giovanni Carraro

Abstract

Pismis 24 is a large star cluster in Ara, so far very poorly studied. It contains several Wolf-Rayet stars and is embedded is gas and dust. The project involves a photometric study in the optical (UBVRI) and near-infrared (JHK) with the aim to derive the star formation history, update the census of early spectral type stars, and define the fundamental parameters of the association. Additional low resolution spectroscopy will be acquired along the project evolution.
