FORS1 MOS Observations

FORS1 MOS of the AXAF and HDF-S fields

FORS1 was used in the Standard Resolution MOS mode. The grism 150I wasused, providing a spectral resolution of 24 A and a useful range from about400 to 800 nm. Observations of the AXAF field have been carriedout in January 1999 by the VLT Commissioning Team. The HDF-S has been observed inDecember 1998 by the FORS1 Commissioning Team.

This page contains information about the calibration and raw framesas well as about the slit configurations used for the MOS observations.

 For the AXAF field in order to align the MOS mask on the sky an image withslit No.10 wide open and the other slits already in position was used,as shown in the frames

Table 1A lists the slit number, EIS identifier,right ascension and declination of all the objects observed in the AXAFfield in configuration A.EISU and EISB objects are drawn respectively from Table 5 and Table 6 ofRengelink, R. et al. 1998, A&A, submitted (astro-ph/9812190). "ANON" stands for anonymous target, included because no Lyman-break candidate was available for the corresponding slit.
