Description

This page contains instructions on how to run the Weekly Health Check at the 2p2

Instructions

On the oh machine, in Service account:

  • Start up jp2pp with the userid=51021
  • Run the OB: WFI_Weekly_Health_Check
This will generate 25 images (5 Bias and 20 Beta-light images).
  • or with the OT select in the Calibration Queue the WFI_Weekly_Health_check OB.

On the off machine as user astro:

  • On /data/reduced/Monthly_Health_Check/ do a export PATH=$PATH:/home/astro/scripts
  • Then run the script: renameMHC.py yyyy-mm-dd First Dark # + First Image #
This will create a symbolic link for each image for input into the midas batch
  • At the astro home dir. start MIDAS inmidas -p 66 , once inside midas cd /data/reduced/Monthly_Health_Check
  • set the context: set/con wfi
  • Run the script: @@ WFIfits2bdf 1 25
This will create the catalogues needed to reduce the data
  • Run the script: @@ ccd_standard_test 5n YYMMDD ccd5n_ norm 25
where 5n corresponds to the number of the ccd (i.e. 50 to 57).
Note1: This means that you have to run this script 8 times!
Note2: It is VERY important to use the date format YYMMDD. You will encounter many problems if you do not (e.g. 20 September 2001 = 010920)
Note3: If you need to re-run the test, first give the command: > rm *5n YYMMDD* to remove the created by ccd_standard_test (otherwise they are not re-created)
  • Check that the graphs are reasonable and the summary is printed on the 2p2 printer. If so:
  • Run the script: MHC2epu + yymmdd + epu password

  • This sends the appropriate data to the t2p2web account on epu and puts it in the directories: ~t2p2web/2p2T/CCDs/5n/Data_ST/

On epu as user t2p2web:

  • Run the script to update the web pages: updateMHC WFI
  • Check the output for each chip paying particular attention to:
1.- Is the Bias level within 2 sigmas ?
2.- Is the intensity level of the last point following the line from the previous points ?
3.- Is the gain within 2 sigmas ?
4.- Is the RON within 2 sigmas ?
5.- Is the shutter error within 2 sigmas ?
6.- Is the linearity error OK ?
If the answer to any of the above questions is NO, run the test again next day.

Notice that the Beta Light output light depends on temperature ~ -0.3% / °C. So you would expect some variation in intensity if the test was done at too extreme temperature.
