We expect to be in the early stages of commissioning the Gemini Near-Infrared Coronagraphic 
Imager (NICI) at the time of this meeting.  This instrument feeds light via a dedicated 
Adaptive Optics wavefront sensor onto two detectors for simultaneous differential imaging.  
It is designed specifically for finding faint companions very close to bright stars-- i.e., 
for planet finding.  If invited to attend, I will present an overview of the instrument and 
a timely update of the status of commissioning.
