Submm/mm/cm QUESO Workshop 2017:

Centimetre-Sub-Millimetre Q&U (and V) European Southern Observatory Workshop 

Garching, October 25 - 27, 2017

Full polarisation observation has been routine at the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (JVLA). It will likewise become straightforward and standard for the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) as well as other modern observational facilities in the centimetre, millimetre, and submillimetre wavelength bands (e.g., roughly 5-1000 GHz) in near future. The full polarisation image and image cubes produced thanks to the revolutionized sensitivity of the modern instruments will be fertile grounds for conducting novel precision measurements, making new discoveries, and stimulating new theoretical frameworks in various scientific fields. Very excitingly, the excellent site of ALMA is now opening opportunities for carrying out polarisation studies at very high frequency (500-1000 GHz).

The aim of the workshop is to bring together leading and  future science users, observatory calibration experts and software developers from broad research fields including AGN, star-formation, solar observations, and CMB.

Starting with the existing facilities and the prospective future capabilities, our aim is to stimulate discussion about the most critical scientific cases, some of which may require developments of the next generation observational and calibration techniques to achieve the requested precision.

We aim also at encouraging cross disciplinary scientific or technical collaborations, such as sharing recently (or on-going) developed data modeling and analysis tools.

The workshop will take place at the ESO Headquarters in Garching (Germany) from  October 25-27, 2017.
