Call for Proposals for Period 114

Published: 20 Feb 2024

The Call for Proposals for observations at ESO telescopes in Period 114 (1 October 2024 - 31 March 2025) has been released. Please consult the Period 114 document before applying for time on ESO telescopes. All technical information about the offered instruments and facilities is contained on ESO web pages that are linked from the Call. The proposal submission deadline is 12:00 CET 21 March 2024.

  •  UT4  Constraints for Large Programmes: Due to significant demand and existing allocations (approved LPs and GTO), the available observing time on UT4 is highly constrained, particularly within the RA range of 9-14 hours. As there is no time available to schedule any new LP proposal submission targeting this RA range on UT4, such proposals will be formally rejected. Please refer to the call document for more information.
  • UT3 Availability Notice: For UT3, observing time allocation under the top 20% of turbulence plus CLR sky conditions around RA 17h is overcommitted because of an existing LP. New proposals should be mindful of the restricted availability under these specific conditions.
  • Refresh your User Portal! Enhance your proposal's chances for a better review by updating your keywords in the User Portal.
  • Even Period (114) Alert: Large Programme participants, it's time to submit your time requests for Period 114.
  • Utilize VLT-I/ALMA joint proposals!  Leverage the capabilities of ESO and ALMA combined to expand your research horizon.
  • Last Opportunity: Propose your projects for EFOSC/NTT & VISIR/UT2 now to secure your spot in the next observation cycle.
  • Saluting Elisabeth "Eli" Hoppe: As Elisabeth "Eli" Hoppe concludes her diligent service at the Observing Programmes Office (OPO) from Period 45 to 114, ESO recognizes her invaluable efforts. Her dedication is celebrated on the cover image, marking her significant impact and the legacy she leaves behind.
