VLT mirror washing unit
The VLT Mirror Washing Unit hangs suspended over the lower half of the VLT Coating Chamber in the Mirror Maintenance Building. It is used to clean the surface of the 8.2-m main mirrors from the VLT Unit Telescopes before the coating process. In the foreground, a part of the upper half of the Coating Chamber.
