An alien vista

A spectacular, surreal and alien landscape, the softly shadowed texture of the desert plateaus and undulates upwards towards Cerro Paranal, where the VLT can be seen. Beyond the desert, the Pacific Ocean, covered in a blanket of cloud, stretches out to the horizon.
