Shooting star

The four lasers shoot into the sky from Unit Telescope 4 of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) in this photo. These lasers create an artificial guide star for the telescope's adaptive optics system.The system allows for the telescope acquire the sharpest images possible. Other ESO telescopes are poised to observe on the right side of the image.
