Brilliant sky and ALMA silhouette

ESO's Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) is situated more than 5000 metres above sea level in the Chilean desert, on the Chajnantor plateau. Here, the dry air and thin atmosphere allow a spectacular view into the Universe and make it the perfect place for such a sensitive telescope. The brilliant, cloudless sky is perfectly silhouetting an observing antenna as it looks out into the Universe.
