Cerro Paranal

A daylight view of the ESO-operated Very Large Telescope (VLT), which includes four 8.2-metre Unit Telescopes as well as four smaller Auxiliary Telescopes. The VLT is based at the Cerro Paranal site in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile, one of the driest place on Earth. The telescopes come to life at night, where the arid climate and clear skies offer stunning views of the sky.
