La Silla fulldome perspective

This colourful fulldome view from La Silla taken with a fish-eye lens, shows the beauty of the Chilean night sky above the site. At the end of the short road, the ESO 3.6-metre telescope can be seen on top of the small peak at the Observatory. The radiance of our Milky Way stretches overhead, revealing the gas and dust along the plain of our galaxy. To the right, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, two companion galaxies to our Milky Way can be seen as bright smudges in the sky.
