Soundscape: Paranal UT2 hand over
Most communications at the observatory between people on site are via radio. Around sunset, radios are buzzing frequently to inform the status of the telescopes and its instruments for the upcoming observations. This audio (in Spanish) features a typical conversation at this time of the day where the day shift staff hands over the telescope to the person in charge of operating the telescopes and their instruments during observations, the Telescope Instrument Operator (TIO), asking how would s/he want to leave the telescope systems: on line or standby. TIOs work alongside the astronomers every night at the Control Room.
