Postula al campamento de verano AstroCamp 2019

El 1 de abril se abrirán las postulaciones para el campamento de verano AstroCamp 2019, que cuenta con apoyo de ESO. AstroCamp es un programa académico en los ámbitos de la astronomía y la física cuyo objetivo es estimular la curiosidad y el pensamiento crítico, organizado por el Centro de Astrofísica de la Universidad de Porto (CAUP). El campamento se realizará del 4 al 18 de agosto de 2019, en un entorno aislado y tranquilo, lejos de las tensiones de los centros urbanos. El programa está dirigido a estudiantes de secundaria de 40 países diferentes, incluidos todos los países miembros de ESO, que estén cursando uno de sus últimos tres años de educación preuniversitaria.
Los estudiantes de diferentes orígenes se reunirán y tomarán dos cursos consistentes en clases diarias, tareas y un examen final. Otros aspectos destacados del programa incluyen:
- Observaciones astronómicas nocturnas a simple vista y a través de telescopios (incluyendo la lluvia de meteoritos Perseidas);
- Conferencias a través de Skype con astrónomos y físicos de diversos países;
- Un proyecto computacional, utilizando datos de los mejores telescopios del mundo;
- Actividades sociales como caminatas, deportes, además de sesiones de cine y documentales.
Las postulaciones al campamento de verano AstroCamp 2019 se recibirán del 1 al 30 de abril. Es necesario enviar una carta de motivación, como también una carta de recomendación y resultados académicos recientes. El sitio web AstroCamp ofrece sugerencias y directrices relativas a la redacción de la carta de motivación. Dicho sitio web también brinda lineamientos, por separado, para los profesores que presenten una carta de recomendación. Los candidatos preseleccionados, elegidos según su motivación y mérito académico, serán invitados a una entrevista vía Skype que se llevará a cabo durante el fin de semana del 25-26 de mayo. Alrededor del 1 de junio se ofrecerán cupos a los estudiantes ganadores, quienes deberán confirmar su participación y completar los trámites requeridos antes del 10 de junio. El mejor postulante elegible proveniente de uno de los Estados Miembros de ESO ganará una beca ofrecida por ESO, que cubre el arancel del campamento (cuyo importe es de unos €400, e incluye alojamiento y pensión completa, actividades del campamento, viaje interno hacia y desde el aeropuerto de Porto y seguros). No se incluyen pasajes internacionales hasta el aeropuerto de Porto.
