Dynamic Earth: visualisation of global ocean and wind currents

Ride along on swirling ocean and wind currents in this fulldome video clip from the Earth science planetarium show Dynamic Earth.

Revealing global wind patterns and ocean currents, this visualisation moves from the Western Atlantic and the Gulf stream to the Gulf of Mexico and the Loop Current.

Topographic features are exaggerated 20 times above water and 40 times below water to distinguish between the different depths of the flow fields.

This visualisation is based on the MERRA computational model of the atmosphere and the ECCO-2 computational model of the oceans and ice.
