Far infrared map of the Milky Way

An excerpt from the Planetarium Show "The Hot and Energetic Universe".

This infrared map of the Milky Way was taken by ESA's Planck telescope. The red colours show light coming from the thermal glow of dust throughout our galaxy. The dust is cold, about 20 degrees above absolute zero (20 Kelvin).
