A  release of the UVES pipeline recipes is now available !

A release of the UVES pipeline recipes is now available for the reduction of data obtained by UVES either in echelle mode or in fiber mode

The recipes can be run either using MIDAS, or Gasgano (running shell scripts provided by this release).

UVES Pipeline Recipes Latest Public Version

The latest public version of the UVES pipeline recipes is 2.9.10, and is available here. It requires  the installation of the MIDAS data reduction package. I has been verified with MIDAS release 12FEBpl1.2. Information on the delivery content, platform supported, installation procedure, how to test and use the pipeline, known problems and other useful information is provided by the README file, which we recommend the user to read before installing the UVES pipeline.

Documentation

The UVES Pipeline User Manual (9.0) (~888 Kb, 104 pages), is available. Note that the manual is also included in the UVES pipeline release, in the file VLT-MAN-ESO-2964-V9.PDF The FLAMES Pipeline User Manual (5.0) (~ 426 Kb, 83 pages), is available. Note that the manual is also included in the UVES pipeline release, in the file VLT-MAN-ESO-1900-3016-V5.PDF Note that data reduction of ECHELLE data can be performed with higher accuracy using the UVES CPL based pipeline.

Data reduction Quality Limitaions

The UVES RED Arm MIT detector has a dead column. For binning 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, 2x3 respectively, this is located at:

Bug Reports

For any other issues or requests, please, send a report to the ESO User Support Department mentioning UVES pipeline in the subject, describing:

  • the UVES pipeline recipes package release, and MIDAS release you are using
  • the version of your OS
  • the exact sequence of actions that were performed before the problem occurred
  • what were precisely the symptoms and the possible error message(s)
  • whether the problem is repeatable
