ESO DG Tim de Zeeuw in front of the VLT
Dutch astronomer Tim de Zeeuw's ten-year service as ESO Director General started in September 2007. Here, he stands before an image of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT), in a building at ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany. The VLT is one of ESO's flagship facilities and is the world's most advanced optical instrument.
