The Headquarters and the Supernova
The public arrive at the Garching Headquarters at the ESO 2017 Open House Day that was held on Saturday 21 October. Whilst ESO's telescopes are based far away in the Chilean desert, the core hub of ESO staff, students, outreach and research is based in Garching, Germany. The ESO Supernova, the world's first entirely open source planetarium, peeps out on the right hand side.
