ANNOUNCEMENT

Call for Papers on Special Thematic Issue on "Comet Hyakutake: First Results from World-wide Observations"

The close approach of Comet Hyakutake (1996 B2) in March this year has provided many new exciting results. The dynamical behaviours of its central nucleus and fragments, the coma activites, chemical composition of the gas species and interaction of the cometary material with the solar wind and solar radiation were observed and monitored in unprecedented details and novel techniques by the international scientific community. It is time to synthesize the preliminary results in preparation for further in-depth analyses and for comparison with Comet Hale-Bopp (C/1995 O1).

Planetary and Space Science is planning a special thematic issue covering all observational and theoretical aspects of Comet Hyakutake. Contributions from research groups around the world are welcome. The submission deadline is December 25, 1996. Manuscripts with four copies should be sent to Dr. Marcello Coradini, Editor-in-Chief, Planetary and Space Science, Observatoire de Paris, F-92195 Meudon Cedex Principal, France. E-mail: PASS@mesiob.obspm.fr (Internet).
