Clouds on La Silla

A cloudy day at ESO's La Silla Observatory, 2400 metres in altitude. La Silla is located at the outskirts of the Chilean Atacama Desert, 600 km north of Santiago de Chile and far from sources of light pollution. When the sun sets, La Silla is graced with some of the darkest night skies on the Earth.
