Cooks at La Silla

The cooks at the La Silla observatory in Chile. Inaugurated in 1969, La Silla is ESO's first observatory, and home to, among others, the New Technology Telescope (NTT), which was the first telescope in the world to have a computer-controlled main mirror and paved the way for the VLT. La Silla is among the most productive observatories in the world, with over 300 refereed publications per year attributable to its work.
