Auxiliary scale

Though smaller than their Unit Telescope neighbours, the Auxiliary Telescopes at ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile are still hefty displays of engineering. Here, one is open and observing, while a photographer from the Fulldome Expedition can be seen setting up some cameras in its shadow.

The Fulldome Expedition was a mission to gather stunning visuals that will be used in the ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre in Garching, Munich.
