Auxilerating Telescope

An image of one of the VLT's four Auxiliary Telescopes. Although smaller in size than the Unit Telescopes of the VLT, they are exhilarating nonetheless because they are crucial to the VLT's most impressive interferometric observations. They are used when the VLT is using interferometry to combine the power of multiple Unit Telescopes, and can be moved in order to support different combinations of the Unit Telescopes.
