Residencia and the VLT
In the background, ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) sits atop the high peak of Cerro Paranal. The distinctive dome of the award-winning Residencia can be seen in the left of the image. Blending in with the landscape, this is where scientists and support staff stay when they are not visiting the telescopes.
