Checking the M2 mirror
In 2017 the contract between ESO and the German glass manufacturing company SCHOTT, located in Mainz, was signed for the production of the M1, M2, M3 and M4 mirror panels. The workers at SCHOTT make sure the casting and treatment of each mirror segment meets their rigorous standards.
