Nightfall ALMA

The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) is situated more than 5000 metres above sea level in the Chilean desert, on the Chajnantor plateau. Here, the dry air and thin atmosphere allow a spectacular view into the Universe and make it the perfect place for such a sensitive telescope. Most of the antennas are can be seen here, under the burnt orange Chilean night sky.
