Oasis inside the Paranal Residencia
A view from inside ESO's Paranal Residencia — where astronomers and support staff stay during the day — reveals an unexpected oasis. Located in the middle of the Atacama Desert, one of the driest areas on Earth, the Residencia incorporates a small garden and a swimming pool, providing the inhabitants with a retreat from the harsh outside environment.
