Science in School: la edición 45 ya se encuentra disponible

El último número de la revista gratuita, Science in School (Ciencia en la Escuela), ya está disponible tanto en su edición impresa como en su versión online. Esta publicación europea, dirigida a educadores vinculados al área de las ciencias, ofrece información actualizada sobre ciencia de vanguardia, materiales didácticos y proyectos en el área de la educación científica, entrevistas con inspiradores científicos y profesores, reseñas de libros además de otros recursos, y muchas otras herramientas útiles para profesores del área. Su objetivo es promover la enseñanza de la ciencia, fomentando la comunicación entre profesores, científicos y todos aquellos involucrados en el proceso educativo de la ciencia europea.
Entre lo más destacado de esta edición se encuentra: una revisión de los inminentes cambios a las definiciones formales de las unidades básicas del Sistema Internacional (SI), previsto para mayo de 2019; un artículo sobre las aplicaciones futuristas de microorganismos termófilos; y una introducción a nuevas y poderosas tecnologías de diagnóstico mediante el uso de radiografías a todo color.
Las actividades pedagógicas incluyen: una actividad para construir un altavoz con materiales simples; un experimento de calorimetría utilizando cáscaras de nuez para producir bioenergía; y una guía para organizar un science slam (concurso donde diversos investigadores desarrollan sus propios monólogos científicos y los representan en un acto público) en un contexto escolar.
Science in School es una publicación de EIROforum, una colaboración entre ocho organizaciones intergubernamentales europeas dedicadas a la investigación científica, que cuenta con la participación de ESO. La revista aborda la enseñanza de las ciencias en toda Europa y comprende una amplia gama de disciplinas, destacando los aspectos más relevantes tanto en el campo de la educación como en lo que respecta a la investigación de vanguardia. Aceptamos el envío de artículos para ediciones futuras, ya sea de parte de investigadores que deseen entregar una comprensión más profunda de un tema científico en particular, o de maestros u otros educadores del área científica que quieran compartir actividades innovadoras para introducir la ciencia moderna en el aula de clases. Es posible encontrar en línea numerosos artículos con sus traducciones a varias lenguas europeas.
