A red staircase

This image shows the central staircase of the new office Building at the ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany. Whereas the rest of the building is kept in black and white, the staircase strikes with its bright red colour. This colour should resemble the colour of the Atacama Desert in Chile, which is home to the ESO Observatories.
