Glowing Auxiliary
One of the Auxiliary Telescopes (AT) of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) sits in the glow of the Sun at the Paranal Observatory. The AT sits on tracks along which it can move to various observing locations. The ATs have mirrors 1.8 metres in diameter, and their movability is unique for telescopes of this size.
