Soaring above a Supernova
The distinct design of the ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre can be seen beginning to take shape in this aerial shot of ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany.
The photograph — captured by an ultralight plane — highlights the building’s unique design, which resembles the form of a binary star system transferring mass from one component to the other, which will lead to a supernova.
The original ESO Headquarters building can be seen just above the ESO Supernova, with the technical and new extension buildings visible towards the upper right.
