Lançado novo website para o Extremely Large Telescope do ESO

O ESO lançou um novo website onde pode ser encontrada toda a informação relativa ao Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), um observatório vindouro que irá estudar o Universo a partir do deserto chileno do Atacama. Criado para uma grande diversidade de audiências, tanto o público em geral como os especialistas em astronomia poderão consultar o website para descobrir mais sobre o novo telescópio, os seus instrumentos, e como é que esta infraestrutura irá fazer avançar o nosso conhecimento do cosmos.
O website apresenta algumas das questões científicas mais importantes a que os astrónomos esperam que o ELT vá responder, complementadas por visuais impressionantes do telescópio, da sua estrutura circundante e dos seus vários instrumentos e espelhos. O website mostra também factos interessantes sobre o ELT, que será o maior telescópio visível e infravermelho do mundo, com um espelho primário de 39 metros, alguma da história por detrás deste desafiante e ambicioso telescópio, assim como uma cronologia com alguns dos marcos mais importantes do projeto.
Este é outro desenvolvimento excitante na história do ELT, o qual se prevê que veja a sua primeira luz a partir de meados desta década. O novo website é a maneira perfeita de nos mantermos a par de notícias futuras relacionadas com o telescópio e de aprendermos mais sobre a ciência, a tecnologia e as pessoas que contribuiram para o seu progresso.
Cada página do website foi cuidadosamente preparada de modo a que os utilizadores tenham primeiro acesso a informação mais geral: pela leitura do texto no cimo de cada página, pode-se facilmente ter uma perspectiva geral do ELT, incluindo resumos sobre os vários componentes, instrumentos e casos científicos individuais. Para obter informações técnicas ou mais detalhadas, os utilizadores podem simplesmente deslocar-se para o fundo da página, onde são apresentados detalhes mais específicos sobre o projeto — que terão certamente de maior interesse para astrónomos ou engenheiros.
O novo site tem um design responsivo, o que significa que funciona muito bem em qualquer plataforma: computadores, smartphones e tablets. O website fornece uma experiência informativa e atraente a todos aqueles que estão interessados neste telescópio que mudará drasticamente tudo o que sabemos sobre o nosso Universo.
Qualquer website recém lançado é suscetível de apresentar erros ou falhas por detectar e o nosso novo website do ELT não é exceção, apesar de ter sido extensivamente testado antes do lançamento.
