In this page, you will find all the manuals needed to prepare and analyze your observations with XSHOOTER.

Please also have a look on the XSHOOTER article by Vernet et al. 2011 , which also provides some useful informations. This article should be quoted in your paper if you use XSHOOTER data.

One can find here a document describing the NIR readout mode and its different regimes (normal, inter/extrapolated, saturated). It is highly relevant for the understanding of what is occurring in the observations and for preparing the OBs.

  • Period 94

Download here the new user manual for P94 phase 2. The imaging manual and the main manual were merged. The resulting document was also updated to contain only relevant information for the current period.

  • Period 93

Download here the XSHOOTER User Manual for P93 phase 1 preparation. This manual contains preliminary information about the XSHOOTER imaging mode. Once fully commissioned a document will be posted in this webpage with all the details. It is also important to mention that the snapshots taken during the acquisition are not saved anymore but the last one (of before/after the blind offset).

  • Period 92

  • Period 91

Download here the XSHOOTER User Manual for P91 phase2 preparation.
This new version contains some useful information regarding the direct and blind offsets acquisition with snapshots of OBs creation in p2pp3. It also contains preliminary information for P92 phase 1, indicating that the snapshots currently saved during the acquistion after each offsets will be disabled keeping only 1 snapshot at the end of the acquisition or before/after the blind offset.

This new version contains the transmission curve of the K-bland blocking filter and some precisions were added concerning the telluric standard star policy for P91.

This new version of the manual contains important updates regarding the observations with disabled ADCs (look at section 2.2.2). This one is valid for P90/P91 observations. There is also an update of the telluric standard star policy for P91 observations.

  • Period 90

Some modifications with respect to P89 were performed, especially about the calibration plan.

  • Periods 84 to 89

The manual was largely updated wrt P88. It contains relevant information with respect to the new NIR slit wheelincluding the two new slits with the stray-light K-band blocking filter. The calibration plan was revised andmore information is given on the new TCCD performances.
